Umbrel presents self-hosted services through an app store and a browser-based dashboard. You can use that interface to find applications and manage their updates, making it easier to assemble a home server around the services you want. Because current umbrelOS is a dedicated operating system, choosing it also means choosing the environment that manages those applications and the underlying machine.
